Breaking was born on the streets of The Bronx, New York in the mid ’70s. A phenomenon transcending boundaries propelled by the world’s youth. Today Breaking is practiced across every corner of the globe and attracts people who come to witness competition on an epic scale. Founded by Tyrone Van der Meer, Oliver “Hooch” Whittle and Thomas Hergenroether in 2013, Undisputed was created to connect the most prestigious Breaking competitions into a world series with their respective champions competing at a Masters championship.

From 2014 to 2019 Undisputed was featured at 54 competitions hosted by events like R16 Korea, Red Bull BC One, Freestyle Session (usa), Unbreakable (belgium), Outbreak Europe, The Notorious IBE (holland), Battle Pro (france), Green Panda Festival (china), Taipei BBoy City and the Silverback Open Championship (usa). The Undisputed Finals were held in London, Marseille, Prague, San Diego, Marrakesh and Malmo.

As of 2022 after a two year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Undisputed presented a new format of competition featuring Solo Junior, Solo Men, Solo Women and Crew 5 vs 5 Battle categories.

Season 2026-2027

On March 31, 2026, FUJIFILM instax™ and Undisputed announced the renewal of their global partnership, reaffirming FUJIFILM instax™ as the headline partner of Undisputed and reinforcing their shared commitment to the continued growth of the global Breaking community.

Through this partnership, FUJIFILM instax™ will continue to inspire and engage a young, diverse international audience by creating opportunities to participate in world-class competitions, produce original content, and support grassroots initiatives that nurture the next generation of talent while advancing Breaking culture around the world.

Undisputed is a global breaking competition series that was established in 2014 by a joint initiative of some of the world’s leading breaking events, judges and competitors. Undisputed has innovated the development of competition rankings and the Trivium judging system that helped Breaking’s debut at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Trivium Judging System is an intuitive digital scoring platform that allows judges to react to breakers in real-time. The system is based on the assessment of three key criteria: the physical quality, interpretative quality and artistic quality of the performance.
